Goldstream Sports Statement on COVID-19
We are making some changes within our store for the safety of our customers and staff, while continuing to provide the best service possible to Fairbanks.
We are in a time when the world is on alert and our state is now seeing the effects. The widespread cancellations of events and closings of schools and businesses are impacting all of us, but we wanted to let you know Goldstream Sports is still open regular hours to serve your outdoor needs, and is focused on keeping each of us safe and healthy.
We are an independently owned business here in town. Our small staff is working in the normal course of business to continue our work and be available for you, while taking strong precautions. We will need your help and continued support during this time.
Our focus is on continuing to serve our customers as we follow the guidance of public health officials. We are currently cleaning the surfaces in the store regularly, including all bikes and equipment and rental bikes are cleaned after each use.
Purchases may be made by phone and then picked up outside at your convenience, or you are welcome to browse in the store but be respectful of others and limit your handling of items. Our goal is to maintain social distancing whether inside the store or out. Just as restaurants have been limited to carry out and delivery, we would like to provide a similar service when possible.
Our Wednesday night group ride is cancelled for the remainder of the winter.
We will now have Easy Up Tents set up in front of the store where we will have an open-air cashier station. We will be checking in repairs outside as well. We would appreciate it if you can bring in your road, hybrid and mountain bikes for their annual tune-ups now so they are ready to go when this all settles down and we can avoid a mass rush later. This will also keep our valued employees working. Any non-time sensitive repairs will be stored for 5 days before being worked on to help protect our mechanics. If you need them sooner, please let us know and we will take appropriate precautions to have them completed quickly. We will gladly work on keeping your bikes and skis tuned up.
We have already received our spring merchandise. Please continue to support us and other small businesses in town as our overhead expenses will continue even during this time. Now is a great time to buy digital gift cards!
The CDC recommends regular exercise as a way to deal with the stress of the COVID-19 outbreak. Coping with stress will make you, the people you care about, and your community stronger. The good news is you can get outside and have fun while you do this!
We are here to help support your active lifestyle in whatever form makes sense for you. Get outdoors. Cross-country ski. Ride your bike. Take care of your physical and mental health.
We should be aware that while the majority of us may be healthy and at a lower risk, we likely come into contact with those who are at higher risk. At a time like this, we should all recognize our ability to have an impact around us all.
