Glide Wax
Your wax box should be set up with one basic wax system. When you know that system then you can add favorites from other lines. I recommended Toko waxes to start with, because they cover our conditions very well with very few waxes. The fewer waxes in your box the less confusing waxing is. Toko has only three waxes in their basic line: World Loppet Yellow, Red and Blue. They can be mixed by dripping on some of each at the ratio of your choice to match snow temperature if you are caught between them.
In Fairbanks it is a safe bet to just go with the colder of the two you are between, due to our dry snow. The wax recommendations at the top of this page will be using Toko's waxes.
Kick Wax
For kick wax I also recommend Toko as it gives the most dependable kick. As with Toko Glide wax there are only a few waxes. If you happen to be caught between temperature ranges with kick wax simply wax warmer on old snow and cooler in new snow.
