Tech Tip - storing skis over summer

This is a little premature, but because we are moving into bike season with our newsletters we thought we would give some tips about storing skis for the summer. Skis should be cleaned well of any dirt or debris (or poop), and a thick layer of warm wax applied. The wax should be left on the ski, and the skis stored in a warm, dry place. The warmth of the environment is not necessary, but over time in a warm place the wax will soak more into the ski base. Do not use a cold wax as the brittleness of the wax inhibits good protection and the wax will not enter the base pores as readily.

St Patricks Day Run

Goldstream Sports hosted the start and finish of the annual St Patrick's Day 7.2-mile run, held on March 18th. The race attracted 35 entrants, and ran from Goldstream Sports parking lot up Ester Dome Rd and onto St Patrick's Rd to the end of Henderson Rd and back. The race was to be run at any temperature and competitors were happy, to be sure, that a mild -5F degree day awaited them. Andy Holland won the race with a time of 47 minutes and 55 seconds, Roy Reifenstuhl placed 3rd in a time of 49:53. Dori McWayne won the women's division in a time of 55:16, followed by Jenny Mahlen (1:00:06) and Sandra Kimbrell placed third in 1:06:27.
